What you will do
- Participate in internal audit engagements to help clients assess risk exposure as well as the design and operating effectiveness of controls. You will assist with defining the audit scope and approach, developing tailored audit programs, performing audit procedures, discussing findings with clients, and preparing internal audit reports.
Contribute to the planning and execution of Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) engagements to support clients in their management certification processes under National Instrument 52-109 (NI 52-109) or the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX). Responsibilities include documenting financial processes and relevant internal controls, as well as testing and evaluating the design and operating effectiveness of key controls.
Participate in governance, risk management, and compliance transformation projects to help organizations respond to evolving business environments.
Support clients in leveraging data, automation, and emerging technologies to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of governance, risk management, and control processes.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams composed of professionals with diverse backgrounds and skill sets.
Assist organizations with a variety of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) engagements, including but not limited to developing risk appetite statements, designing and implementing risk management frameworks, and facilitating enterprise-wide risk assessments.
Conduct and lead client interviews, review and analyze documentation and data, perform research and benchmarking analyses, and participate in client workshops.
Contribute to business development initiatives, including the preparation of service proposals, marketing materials, and internal and external presentations.
What you bring to the role
A successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited university in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or another relevant field.
- Professional Certification: CPA, CIA, or CRMA designation (completed or in progress).
- Experience: 0 to 5 years of experience in a public accounting or audit firm, or within an organization in internal audit, internal controls, risk management, or compliance-related roles.
- A general understanding of internal audit, governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance frameworks (e.g., SOX and NI 52-109).
- Interest in digital transformation, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and the evolution of governance, risk, and compliance functions.
- Knowledge of data analytics and visualization tools such as Power BI, Alteryx, ACL, or similar technologies. Experience with GRC platforms is considered an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with proficiency in PowerPoint.
- Full professional fluency in either French or English, with strong working proficiency in the second official language.
This position requires proficiency in both written and spoken English, as it involves interpreting and applying standards, guidelines, laws, and regulations in English, delivering services to English-speaking clients across Canada, and collaborating with English-speaking colleagues outside of Quebec.
