As part of KPMG’s high‑performing Ontario & Atlantic Pursuits & Proposals team, the successful candidate will lead and manage the proposal development process end‑to‑end, working across multiple service lines and disciplines. Operating within a senior group of proposal professionals, this role requires strong judgment, organization, and executive‑level communication skills to effectively support complex pursuits and collaborate with diverse, cross‑functional teams.
The candidate will own the proposal development process, from early strategy and planning through to final submission, and will be expected to personally contribute high‑quality written content. They must be accustomed to developing and delivering clear, compelling, client‑centric, compliant, and innovative proposals within a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
This role requires an individual who is an excellent writer and communicator, comfortable working with and influencing senior professionals, including partners, senior managers, and subject‑matter experts, often leading teams without direct authority. Our ideal candidate is a collaborative team player with a strong “how can I help” mindset, who thrives under pressure, adapts quickly to changing priorities, and demonstrates confidence using modern tools and technology to deliver high‑quality outcomes.
What you will do
- Lead and own the end‑to‑end proposal development process, continuously identifying opportunities to improve quality, effectiveness, and efficiency across complex pursuits.
- Serve as the strategic and operational lead for proposal execution, including evaluating RFP requirements, shaping pursuit approach, facilitating effective kick‑off sessions, developing and managing clear workplans, and ensuring roles, accountabilities, and deadlines are well understood and met.
- Drive proposal strategy and response development, undertaking gap analyses, identifying risks and opportunities, and independently developing practical strategies to address them, including providing informed scoring or assessments on draft responses.
- Partner closely with senior internal stakeholders — including lead partners, senior managers, subject‑matter experts, and account teams — to articulate compelling client value propositions, win themes, and key insights, leveraging KPMG’s sales and pursuit methodologies.
- Personally write, edit, and review proposal content, ensuring responses are clear, persuasive, client‑centric, and aligned to both strategic objectives and RFP requirements.
- Collaborate across Marketing and Business Enablement functions (including Creative, Research, Function & Industry Marketing, and Key Accounts) to coordinate inputs, integrate messaging, and support high‑quality proposal delivery.
- Ensure all submissions are compliant with client requirements and adhere to KPMG brand, risk, and regulatory standards.
- Own quality throughout the proposal lifecycle, providing editorial leadership, direction, and oversight to ensure consistency, clarity, and a high standard of final deliverables.
- Direct and coordinate production and support services as required (e.g., design, desktop publishing, digital and print services), maintaining hands‑on oversight through to final submission.
- Actively contribute to the National Pursuits Community and regional enablement networks, sharing best practices, knowledge, and continuous improvement ideas to strengthen the overall pursuit capability.
What you bring to the role
- Demonstrated experience leading end‑to‑end proposal development, including strong business and proposal writing skills in a sales‑oriented, professional services, or consulting environment.
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling, and persuasive content tailored to sophisticated audiences.
- Strong understanding of pursuit and business development processes, including proposal strategy, win themes, and response methodologies.
- Experience with public‑sector and/or regulated procurement environments (e.g., government or broader public‑sector RFPs) is considered a strong asset.
- Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and competing priorities, maintaining quality, composure, and sound judgment in fast‑paced environments.
- Proven ability to collaborate and influence across levels, including working confidently with partners, senior managers, and subject‑matter experts on a day‑to‑day basis.
- Highly developed prioritization and project‑leadership skills, enabling the successful management of multiple, complex pursuits simultaneously through to completion.
- Strong digital fluency, including advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and collaborative platforms such as SharePoint, with the ability to adapt quickly to new tools and technologies.
- Self‑directed and accountable, demonstrating the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while knowing when to engage others appropriately.
- Professional maturity and executive presence, with thoughtful, credible communication and sound interpersonal judgment.
- Flexible, agile, and resilient, with a positive, solutions-oriented mindset and a strong sense of ownership.
- Ability and confidence to “own the document”, taking full accountability for quality, coherence, and readiness from early drafts through to final submission
