The KPMG in Canada Board Leadership Centre (BLC) engages with directors, board members and business leaders to discuss timely and relevant boardroom topics and deliver practical thought leadership on risk and strategy, talent and technology, globalization and regulatory issues, financial reporting, and more. The BLC provides an analysis of the big issues reshaping our environment today for public and private-company governance and shares diverse perspectives from KPMG’s subject matter experts to help navigate the boardroom agenda.
Reporting to the Partner, Client and Markets, and Chair of the BLC, this role supports the development and execution of the Board Leadership Center’s premier and sponsored board‑level programs including facilitating the development of thought leadership on timely governance and boardroom practices, including strategy, risk oversight, technology innovation, digital disruption, and data governance. It involves close collaboration with KPMG partners and senior leaders across Audit, Tax, Advisory, and other functions to build relationships and deliver relevant, strategic insights to board members and top executives. The position also contributes to refining the BLC’s strategy and enhancing its operational effectiveness as part of the leadership team, while upholding the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and respect within the firm’s culture. This role is being established from the ground up, offering a unique opportunity to shape processes, tools, and ways of working, and will require a hands-on approach and a willingness to be involved at all levels.
What you will do
- Help drive the development and execution of the Board Leadership Center's (BLC) premier programs and events and sponsored/third-party board-level programs
- Facilitate the development/authorship of articles, newsletters and thought leadership on timely governance issues and related boardroom practices such as oversight of strategy and risk, tech innovation, digital disruption, and data governance
- Interact with KPMG partners and leadership across the firm (Audit, Tax, Advisory, Market Development, Events & Meetings, Risk Management) to develop client and target relationships and facilitate the delivery of timely/relevant insights to board members, membership groups, and top executives consistent with the firm's strategic priorities
- As part of KPMG BLC’s leadership team lead the calibration of BLC's operational effectiveness and efficiency and contribute to defining BLC's strategy and operations
What you bring to the role
- 10+ years of experience in corporate governance arena; knowledge of audit and financial reporting a plus
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, law, business, governance, or a related field. J.D., MBA, PhD, ICD or other relevant advanced degree is preferred
- Strong understanding of the impact of tech/digital disruption and the implications for strategy, risk, and board oversight; experience in the technology sector is a strong plus
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate orally and in writing at a very high level
- Strong collaborative mindset; be able to work closely and cooperatively with BLC members in a high-performance environment, with a proven record of executing collaboratively with a high level of quality, on-time and on budget
- Be a future-focused strategic and innovative thinker with a strong commitment to life-long learning; audience-focused and purposeful
- Some domestic travel expected
KPMG Ontario Region Pay Range Information
The expected base salary range for this position is $146,000 to $196,000 and may be eligible for bonus awards. The determination of an applicant’s base salary within this range is based on the individual’s location, skills & competencies, and unique qualifications. In addition, KPMG offers a comprehensive and competitive Total Rewards program.
