KPMG Law LLP’s team includes a group of specialists that have years of experience in estates, wills and trusts. Our lawyers’ build ‘lifetime’ relationships with their clients, serving as their family’s trusted confidant and wealth advisors. Our lawyers work with families that have often earned their wealth through corporations and thus estate planning for our clients will involve corporate work.

We are looking for an experienced Associate with a passion to join our Wills, Trusts, Estates & Corporate team.


What you will do

  • Drafting estate planning documents, including but not limited to wills, including multiple wills, powers of attorney, alter ego and joint partner trusts, discretionary trusts and Henson trusts
  • Working closely with clients to develop estate plans that creatively consider unique familial situations, including family business, beneficiaries with disabilities, blended families, as well as estate administration tax and income tax implications
  • Drafting cohabitation and prenuptial agreements
  • Advising attorneys and Agents for property and personal care and estate trustees and guiding these persons as to their duties and responsibilities
  • Proficiency with estate administration, including obtaining Grants of Probate and Administration, general estate administration, distributions to beneficiaries, applications for resealing of foreign grants of probate
  • Assisting estate trustees with navigating the estate administration
  • Assisting with basic corporate work including but not limited to unanimous shareholder agreements, corporate resolutions, incorporations and other basic corporate work

What you bring to the role

  • Experience in Wills & Estates and Corporate Law
  • Good standing with Law Society of Alberta
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to conduct detailed research
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word
  • Proficient or willingness to be proficient in Co-pilot and other AI tools
