What are we looking for?

GHD has an outstanding opportunity for a Graduate Engineer in our Land Development Group in Ontario, with the option to work from our Mississauga, Whitby, Markham or Waterloo offices.

As a Graduate Engineer, you will join a team of engineering and technical professionals through all stages of land development projects. From concept to construction, you will collaborate with other GHD disciplines and external team members as required to achieve the project’s objectives. The role will provide training and mentoring opportunities from senior engineers and technical specialists.

GHD provides virtually all the services that those from the private and public sector require to advance a land development or redevelopment project from an initial vision to reality. The majority of this work is channeled through our Land Development offices in Mississauga, Markham and Whitby. Within the Land Development Group, GHD has expertise in the upfront studies, planning, design and contract administration of municipal projects, plans of subdivision and site plans.

The successful candidate will:

• Apply engineering principles to the design, calculation or modelling of municipal services, earthworks and stormwater management systems under the supervision of a senior engineer.
• Support technical team in the completion of conceptual, preliminary and detailed engineering design documents for site plan and plan of subdivision applications.
• Participate in internal and external multidisciplinary teams assembled to support land development projects.
• Contribute to the pursuit of individual, team, and project-related financial targets.
• Occasionally conduct site visits or field tasks as required to support engineering design.
• Provide technical support to project team for tendering, contract administration and construction inspection tasks.
• Support internal project governance standards.
• Support quality assurance, quality control and other design related duties as assigned or required.
• Actively participate in staff development, staff assessments and business development activities.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Post-secondary (college/university) civil engineering education
• Detail oriented with strong analytical and report writing skills.
• 0 to 2 years’ experience in civil engineering projects is an asset
• Familiarity with CAD is an asset
• Strong time management skills.
• Challenge driven and supportive of a team environment.
