Join our Technology Strategy & Transformation team as a Manager focused on Technology Strategy in Retail & Consumer Markets. In today's rapidly evolving environment, technology is the key driver of competitive advantage and innovation. We’re looking for a Technology Strategy Manager who can help our clients navigate this dynamic landscape by developing forward-thinking technology strategies and actionable roadmaps. This role offers a unique opportunity to partner with business and technology leaders across retailers and consumer brands, advising them on how to reshape the role of technology in their organizations to enhance customer experiences, optimize operations, and improve business performance. If you’re passionate about shaping the future of retail and consumer markets through technology and enjoy working at the intersection of business, technology and innovation, this is the role for you.
This job posting relates to an existing vacancy within our organization.
Your key responsibilities
We are looking a Manager that can wear multiple hats – as a technology visionary, strategic advisor, collaborative partner and change catalyst – to help guide our clients through complex technology decisions, and design and execute on roadmaps that drive business transformation and sustainable growth. This includes:
Technology, digital & AI strategy development
- Defining forward-looking technology strategies aligned with business goals and market trends, which consider both proven (e.g. ERP, data and analytics, mobile and digital) and emerging (e.g. generative and agentic AI, robotics and automation) technologies relevant to retail and consumer markets
- Preparing actionable technology roadmaps (including defining business/investment cases and initiatives) that align technology investments with strategic priorities and take a balanced view on the trade-offs between costs, benefits and risks of investment decisions
Operating model reinvention
- Assessing how technology is currently being used across our clients’ value chain and identify technology and AI-enabled opportunities across various business functions, such as finance, human resources and supply chain, that drive function reinvention (i.e. through greater operational efficiency, agility and value creation)
Technology system selection & implementation planning
- Facilitating the end-to-end process system selection process (i.e. needs assessment, requirements gathering, vendor market scan, RFx development and vendor proposal/demo evaluations) in collaboration with key client business and technology stakeholders to ensure selected systems (e.g. ERP, WMS, POS, EPM) are fit-for-purpose and align with the client’s business goals and operational needs
- Developing high-level implementation roadmaps to ensure a successful transition and smooth adoption of the selected technology systems and consider key factors, such as business priorities and impact, resourcing, change management, technical complexity and risk mitigation
Your key responsibilities
Your role as a Manager will be as a trusted advisor to create meaningful impact with EY’s clients and our teams.
- Apply a deep understanding of business and technology to solve complex problems. Stay at the forefront of industry trends in retail and consumer markets to develop thought leadership and points of view from a technology perspective that influence competitiveness and value creation.
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of projects or program workstreams and supporting team members; ensure activities and deliverables meet EY’s quality standards while managing scope, timelines, and client expectations.
- Build and maintain long-term, productive relationships with clients. Actively navigate and leverage the global EY network to bring the full breadth of the firm’s capabilities to every engagement.
- Drive business development by identifying market opportunities and communicating EY’s value proposition. Lead the pursuit process, including RFP responses and proposal development, to expand the firm’s footprint and impact.
- Maintain engagement management rigour and discipline by overseeing project economics (budget and margin), developing detailed work plans, and ensuring strict compliance with all quality and risk management procedures.
Skills and attributes for success
- Knowledge and passion for strategy, innovation, and technology in business, with retail and consumer markets sector, technology domain and functional expertise as an asset
- Passion for learning about the latest trends surrounding technology, service providers and how integrated to the client’s technology landscape to drive value
- Strong interpersonal, workshop facilitation and presentation skills
- Ability to self-direct and manage the completion of work with a high level of autonomy, and provide and manage others in project delivery
- Strong critical thinking and analytical mindset in terms of taking abstract and complex concepts and being able to structure and translate them into clear insights, requirements and solutions
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and able to thrive in dynamic environments
- Strong project management skills to drive the end-to-end project and business development lifecycles through to completion
- Strong ability and proven experience in building and developing a high performing team/culture and desire to mentor, develop and manage staff
