Manager/Senior Manager, Professional Practice Group, Assurance

The Canadian EY Private Professional Practice group is seeking an experienced assurance manager / senior manager interested in a National accounting and assurance role. This role supports EY Private assurance professionals across the country in the performance of high-quality audits, reviews and compilation engagements.
Our Assurance group is one of the most trusted, respected and influential organizations in the industry, and our Canadian EY Private practice focuses exclusively on helping business owners and entrepreneurs to manage challenges and respond to opportunities unique to private companies. As part of our Professional Practice team, you will support our EY Private Assurance group in financial reporting, issue resolution, technical accounting support, consultations and effectively applying the EY audit methodology, helping to ensure compliance with professional standards and to enhance professional development and promote knowledge sharing. This role also includes active participation in several key elements of the firm’s system of quality management (SQM).
Specific responsibilities include:
- Research and respond to technical questions from all professional staff regarding accounting and assurance-related matters
- Perform quality control reviews of both engagement files and financial statements including executing independent reviews (IR) of financial statements primarily under Canadian Accounting Standard for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Conduct research on relevant issues, new standards and their application
- Keep up-to-date by reading associated literature and attending appropriate educational courses for skill development
- Assist with developing EY Canada’s firm-level response on new accounting standards issued by CPA Canada
- Responsible for certain aspects of staff and executive training including course development and course instruction
- Provide informal and formal team-based coaching to engagement teams on the application of EY GAM and professional standards
- Author and edit firm-wide communications on accounting- and assurance-related matters
- Interact with other members of EY Professional Practice to promote knowledge sharing

- Experience in facilitating internal training courses and/or external presentations
To qualify for the role you must have:
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience in assurance-related professional services
- Strong technical background in ASPE, IFRS, Generally Accepted Auditing Standards and CSRE 2400 review engagements
- Strong research, organizational and project management skills
- Exposure to private client assurance engagements with a variety of size, complexity and industry
- Completion of the CPA, CA designation
Ideally you’ll also have:
- US GAAP knowledge
- Technical experience with CaseWare
- Bilingual abilities (English/French)

The salary range for this job in British Columbia is $70,000 to $116,000. Individual salaries within this range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and work location city.
