POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Advisor, Compensation acts as a compensation expert and supports the organization in making strategic and operational decisions related to compensation and job architecture.

The role helps ensure internal equity, organizational consistency, external competitiveness and compliance of practices, while supporting HR leaders and business partners in highly complex cases.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET

  • Act as an expert advisor to HR business partners and leaders for compensation-related decisions (salary adjustments, promotions, offers, retention, restructuring, etc.). Provide tools and coaching to help them work more independently.

  • Develop structured recommendations taking into account the organization's policies, internal equity, market practices, financial impacts and business needs.

  • Assess, create and adjust job profiles and levels, and ensure consistency in job architecture.

  • Contribute to the governance and evolution of variable and incentive compensation programs.

  • Actively participate in annual performance and compensation cycles, including support for leaders and HR partners.

  • Develop and maintain tools to support HR business partners and leaders (guides, checklists, presentations, communications).

  • Collaborate with Finance, HRIS/Workday, and Communications teams to analyze scenarios and improve processes.

  • Contribute to initiatives related to federal pay equity, regulatory compliance, and the integrity of pay structures.

  • Identify process or system issues and propose continuous improvements.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Education and experience

  • University degree in human resources, administration or related field.

  • A minimum of eight years of significant experience in compensation, ideally in a complex or corporate environment.

  • Experience in job evaluation, job architecture, and supporting HR leaders and business partners.

Key Competencies

  • Compensation expertise and good understanding of incentive compensation programs.

  • Excellent analytical and professional judgment skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English.

  • Ability to understand organizational needs, business issues and the operating context in order to make recommendations that are adapted and aligned with the business reality.

  • Ability to influence and advise stakeholders at different levels.

  • Strong team spirit and collaboration

  • Ability and/or interest in integrating artificial intelligence into the compensation function to improve data analysis, decision-making, process efficiency, and stakeholder experience.

  • Rigor, organizational skills and ability to manage several priorities.

  • Proficiency in HR systems, including Workday (an asset).
