POSITION OVERVIEW

The Manager, Loan Operations and Disbursements is responsible for overseeing loan operations, disbursements and related accounting activities, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, continuity, and compliance with regulatory and internal requirements. This role acts as a subject‑matter expert in financial systems, data flows, and business rules, while leading a team responsible for processing high volumes of complex financial transactions with direct client impact.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET

  • Provide strong expertise in multiple financial and banking applications (CLICS, Abacus, Bank of Montreal, National Bank), including data flows and controls across systems.

  • Maintain in‑depth knowledge of business rules and procedures covering the full loan lifecycle for Financing and Growth and Transition Capital transactions.

  • Identify, recommend, and implement system and process improvements to enhance efficiency, automation, and capacity in a high‑volume, complex environment.

  • Support Operations by resolving complex transactions, exceptional situations, and errors impacting clients.

  • Lead and manage the team, in collaboration with two team leads, including recruitment, onboarding, training, employee engagement, performance management, and resource capacity planning.

  • Foster a high level of expertise, engagement, and versatility within the team to sustain service quality and operational continuity.

  • Ensure BDC’s compliance with internal policies, Canadian banking regulations, and Payments Canada requirements.

  • Maintain strong internal controls and collaborate with internal and external audit teams.

  • Build and sustain strong partnerships with key internal stakeholders, including Financing Operations, business centres, shared services (underwriting, portfolio management, security and disbursements), Syndication, risk management, legal services, IT, and other Finance functions.

  • Actively contribute to enterprise-wide strategic initiatives impacting Finance systems and processes related to Financing, including the analysis of new products, initiatives, and programs. Recommend best practices to enhance efficiency, data integrity, and internal controls.

  • Act as a key leader in Finance’s Business Continuity Plan, given the critical nature of loan operations.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Accounting; CPA designation considered an asset.

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including several years in banking operations and people leadership roles.

  • Proven experience in loan operations and/or banking accounting.

  • Strong expertise in financial systems, data flows, and internal controls.

  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including several years in banking operations and people leadership roles.

  • Bilingualism (English and French) required.
