POSITION OVERVIEW
The Specialist, CBIO Strategy & Operations plays a pivotal role in enabling the Chief Community Banking & Impact Officer (CCBIO) and the broader leadership team to deliver on BDC’s Community Banking and Impact strategy. This role provides strategic planning, execution support, performance management, and cross functional coordination to advance the organization’s priorities and ensure operational excellence across all Community Banking lines of business.
This person brings rigor, structure, and strong analytical capabilities, while demonstrating the ability to influence and mobilize diverse internal and external stakeholders.
CHALLENGES TO BE MET
1. Strategic Planning & Execution
Lead and coordinate the CBIO’s strategic planning processes, ensuring alignment of priorities across Community Banking and BDC’s enterprise objectives.
Support the development, deployment, and monitoring of strategic initiatives, ensuring clear objectives, success measures, and milestones.
Translate high-level strategy into actionable plans, performance indicators, and execution roadmaps.
Mobilize and engage relevant internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment, clarity of roles, and timely execution of priorities.
2. Strategic Advisory & Leadership Support
Work closely with the Chief Community Banking & Impact Officer and CBIO senior leadership team to provide strategic insight, decision support, and business intelligence.
Conduct analysis, environmental scanning, and synthesis of industry trends and opportunities to inform both short-term decisions and long-term positioning.
Foster strong relationships across BDC’s lines of business and corporate functions to ensure end-to-end understanding of operations and strategic implications.
3. Corporate Governance & Executive Reporting
Collaborate with executives to prepare high-quality materials for the Senior Management Committee (SMC), CEO briefings, and Board of Directors.
Lead the quarterly Board reporting cycle for the CBIO, including preparation of documentation, data gathering, insight generation, and coordination with contributors.
Play a key role in corporate planning and business unit planning processes, ensuring coherence and alignment across lines of business.
4. Performance Management & Analytics
Develop dashboards, scorecards, and operational reporting to provide visibility on key operational, strategic, and impact metrics.
Lead ongoing monitoring of KPI dashboards and performance routines, generating insights that inform strategy, operational enhancements, and business development action plans.
Support VPs in monthly and quarterly business review cycles, enabling robust performance discussions and follow-up.
5. Collaboration & Cross Functional Engagement
Maintain strong and proactive relationships with core corporate functions (e.g., Finance, HR, Marketing & Public Affairs, Operations) to ensure integrated planning and optimal resource utilization.
Partner with Finance and Operations to refine forecasting, productivity analysis, and resource allocation across Community Banking.
Ensure clear and consistent communication and coordination across the Community Banking ecosystem.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Technical & Professional Skills
Bilingualism in French and English is required
Strong strategic thinking and ability to translate strategy into actionable plans.
Bachelor’s and graduate degree; concentrations in Business, Economics, or related fields are considered assets.
5 – 7 years' relevant experience in strategy operations and execution planning and implementation
Experience in strategy consulting ideally in the financial sector or with SMEs is also an asset.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities; comfortable working with complex datasets and KPIs.
Superior communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise, executive ready materials.
Experience in business planning, corporate governance, or strategy/operations roles.
