Toronto Metropolitan University is reshaping the downtown core of Toronto with three new buildings: the Mattamy Athletic Centre at the Gardens, the Toronto Metropolitan University Image Centre in the heart of campus, and a Student Learning Centre on Yonge Street. In addition, currently in progress is the development of a new multipurpose building, the Church Street development (CSD). This new building will be located just north of Dundas on Church Street and will be home to four academic health services programs, Toronto Met. University food services, administration, and a student residence.

Greater preference will be accorded first to Doctoral candidates, then Master's candidates.

Relevant Experience:

• The successful candidate must demonstrate strong attention to detail, punctuality, responsibility, and the ability to follow established guidelines and grading rubrics.
• The Academic Assistant will be expected to complete assigned duties according to the course schedule, provide timely grading and feedback, release grades through the designated platform, and professionally address student questions or concerns regarding assessments in consultation with the instructor.

• The Academic Assistant must also be available to attend and invigilate the midterm and final examinations.

  Responsibilities during examinations include assisting with exam organization and setup, taking attendance, distributing and collecting examination materials, monitoring the examination environment, supporting the instructor with administrative tasks, and ensuring that university examination procedures and academic integrity policies are followed.

• Strong organizational, communication, time management, and problem-solving skills are essential. The successful candidate must be able to work independently, maintain accurate records, and interact professionally with students and the instructor.

September 1, 2026 to August 31, 2027

PhD - $56.64 per hour

Conferring with the Supervising Instructor/Training:

• Orientation on the GLO-BUS assignment and simulation

Marking assignments/lab reports/term papers

• Mark the GLO-BUS Final Reports using the grading criteria established by the instructor.
• Review team performance data and rankings on the GLO-BUS simulation platform and incorporate the results into the assessment process.
• Complete the GLO-BUS grading spreadsheet, including the calculation and assignment of individual student grades based on peer evaluation scores, ensuring that grades are proportional to each student's contribution as reflected in the peer evaluations.
• Verify the accuracy of all calculations, grades, and student records before submission.
• Enter grades accurately into the appropriate grade items on D2L.

Marking quizzes/tests/exams:

• Be available to invigilate the midterm and final examinations at the dates, times and locations.
