The base salary range for Contract Lectures hired August 16, 2026 through August 15, 2027 is $79,644.07 to $101,855.82 per annum for a full workload. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications. Contract amounts are calculated based on the number of semester hours in the appointment (a full workload is 15 semester hours per semester, for two semesters).

Schedule: Tu 13:00-15:00 and We 14:00-15:00

Course Description: Introduction to Anthropology: What does it mean to be human? Anthropology, the study of humans, has the tools to understand our biology, history, culture, and language as a species. Students will engage with readings, projects, and discussions that will enable you to explore the social, political, economic, and personal dimensions of what it means to be human, drawing on the wisdom of ancient and modern cultures. Students will apply the anthropological lens to explore their own lives.

a) A part-time hourly appointment / one semester is for less than 9 hours in any one semester. This package is for three hours.

QUALIFICATIONS

Evidence may be requested for all categories.

a) A minimum of a Master’s degree in anthropology or its equivalent; a PhD is preferred.

b) Evidence of strong teaching skills and interactive skills.

c) Evidence of currency relative to the position.

d) Demonstrated experience of ability to effectively teach in an online environment which includes demonstrated knowledge of best practices for the delivery and management of online courses, including using course management system tools to communicate with students and to foster and support a collaborative online learning community with and between students in the course. Successful applicants will be required to have access to the appropriate technology, i.e. computer with camera and microphone and internet.

e) Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of personal computers that are relevant to this course, including document creation, file management, internet research, and communications.

  5. The address or addresses to which the letter of appointment should be sent, and any periods when the candidates cannot be contacted.
  6. Instructors with priority of consideration may include which of the Continuing Education credit courses they would prefer should the volume of teaching applied for not be available from the teaching functions available to discharge.
