Toronto Metropolitan University is reshaping the downtown core of Toronto with three new buildings: the Mattamy Athletic Centre at the Gardens, the Toronto Metropolitan University Image Centre in the heart of campus, and a Student Learning Centre on Yonge Street. In addition, currently in progress is the development of a new multipurpose building, the Church Street development (CSD). This new building will be located just north of Dundas on Church Street and will be home to four academic health services programs, Toronto Met. University food services, administration, and a student residence.
- Completion of degree in midwifery or its equivalent or a related program
- Additional post-secondary degrees or education is an asset
- Previous classroom teaching is an asset
- Successful completion of the Midwifery Education Program clinical skills course is an asset
- Clinical experience working as a Registered Midwife and clinical preceptor or as another health care clinician is an asset
- Understanding of the Ontario health care system and Ontario midwifery is an asset

Undergraduate - $40.56 per hour
Master - $52.45 per hour
PhD - $56.64 per hour
This course provides an introduction to midwifery clinical skills and competencies in preparation for the first midwifery clinical placement. Students will acquire knowledge required for routine midwifery care at a level appropriate for a student in their first clinical placement. The course will provide an introduction to clinical skills utilized in prenatal, intrapartum and postpartum care.
MWF 252 is a one semester course with lecture and lab components. This course is taught in-person during the fall semester at the university with a team approach of Instructors and Academic Assistants. The expected enrollment is approximately 24 students per tutorial section. Academic Assistants (AAs) will assist faculty with the delivery of the Midwifery Clinical Skills courses curriculum over the 2026 fall term. AAs will prepare for classes, set up and take down equipment related to classroom workshops (before and after scheduled class times), assist with revision and updating of course materials, and assist students with individual clinical skills learning during class time. AAs will assist with preparation and running of clinical skills assessment days in each of the courses. Work will take place on-site at Toronto Metropolitan University. AAs must be off-call and able to participate in-person during their assigned class times. AAs for this course are expected to participate in both lecture and lab components weekly, which is a change from prior years. It is also expected AAs will be available for 30 min prior to and after class weekly for set-up and take down.
Classes are held in-person on campus on Tuesdays 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM and 1-2 PM.
