The base salary range for Contract Lectures hired August 16, 2026 through August 15, 2027 is $79,644.07 to $101,855.82 per annum. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications. Contract amounts are calculated based on the number of semester hours in the appointment.

CVL920 Water and Wastewater Treatment Fall 2026 Tuesday 12-3 p.m.
The course will introduce students to the composition of water and wastewater, and address methodologies relevant to the engineering design and analysis of processes used in water and wastewater treatment. The topics covered in the course include physical, chemical and biological processes, as well as sludge handling and management. The course includes a laboratory component, where the students will perform hands-on experiments related to the above processes.
a) A full workload half-sessional appointment is for 15 hours in any one semester.
b) A reduced workload half-sessional appointment is for at least 9 but less than 15 semester hours in any one semester.
c) A part-time hourly appointment / one semester is for less than 9 hours in any one semester.
Evidence may be requested for all categories.
Education
- PhD in the related discipline;
- Outstanding performance in an equivalent course at the graduate or senior undergraduate level;
- Evidence of having maintained up-to-date knowledge and/or academic currency in specific field/discipline;
- Minimum of three years professional experience;
- Demonstrated teaching skills with minimum three years’ post-secondary teaching/GA experience;
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with students;

Applicant Responsibilities

The CUPE instructor is responsible for the overall delivery of the course the instructor hired for. Specifically, the CUPE instructor is responsible for
(a) delivery of lecture components of the course;
(b) development of assignments, projects, mid-term and final exams, and other relevant components of the course evaluation;
(c) supervision of TA/GAs, where applicable, for the delivery of labs/tutorials;
(d) marking midterms and final exams (TA/GAs are not permitted to mark the midterm and final exams);
(e) performing the Graduate Attribute Assessment per CEAB guidelines and as instructed by the Department CEAB GA coordinator;
(f) submitting an electronic binder with all course material i.e. Course Management, Lecture slides/notes, Assignments, Solutions, Midterms and Final Exams in accordance with the CEAB guidelines.
(g) administering office hours for students, with minimum one hour per week.
In addition, for graduate courses, the CUPE Instructor is also responsible for marking assignments and projects. For undergraduate courses, assignments and projects are generally marked by TA/GAs.
