The Role:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Summer Student to support our Life and Benefits team. This role offers hands-on exposure to life and employee benefit plan insurance operations, sales and marketing, client service and administration.
This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in careers in insurance, risk management, finance, or business operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform administrative duties in support of the Life and Benefits Department:
- Assist the Coordinators with client service and policy administration, including assisting with new business and inforce business for Life & Group Benefits insurance
- Job-shadowing the Manager, Group Benefits and Sales on administrative support and providing administrative assistance as required
- Conduct data entry, file organization and document management within internal systems
- Assist with gathering client information and assist with submitting new applications for coverage
- Support Coordinators with reporting and tracking of monthly performance metrics
- Assist with process improvement initiatives in support of all aspects of the Life and Benefits business
- Attend team meetings and provide updates to projects and initiatives being worked-on
- Liaising between insurers and brokers with marketing and sales activities including insurer webinars, presentations and other communications
Learning Opportunities:
- Exposure to life insurance and group benefit products
- Understanding of licensed advisor/client/insurer relationships
- Experience with life and group benefit insurance systems and CRM tools
- Insight into life insurance account management and risk strategies
- Development of professional communication and analytical skills
Qualifications/Attributes:
- Currently enrolled in post-secondary program (Business, Finance, Risk Management or other related field)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Interest in pursuing a career in insurance or financial services
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Outlook, TEAMs
- A team player with a client-centric approach, ready to deliver great service.
- Comfort with managing multiple demands, with proven organizational, time-management and prioritization skills.
- A positive attitude with the flexibility to support the team with any ad-hoc needs.
