Starting salary for this position ranges from $90,720 to $95,760, with the opportunity to grow within the salary range of $95,760 to $105,840 as you advance in your role. Annual salary increases are determined by performance and contributions to the organization. Perimeter’s compensation philosophy emphasizes fairness and transparency, ensuring alignment with both internal equity and external market benchmarks. The IT Infrastructure Architect is responsible for the design and governance and evolution of enterprise infrastructure solutions that deliver scalability, security, and resilience across both on-premises and cloud environments. Guided by departmental strategy and organizational vision, they establish architecture standards, drives modernization initiatives, and ensures technology decisions advance Perimeter’s research and administrative objectives. As a trusted advisor, you’ll integrate advanced technologies, define governance frameworks, and provide expert guidance on complex technical challenges, building a robust, adaptable IT foundation that supports organizational priorities and reflects industry best practices.
Summary of Position Duties (What You’ll Do)
- Designs, develops, implements and communicates end-to-end infrastructure systems and applications
- Responsible for the configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of Windows and Linux physical servers, virtual machines and hypervisors, network devices (wired and wireless), firewall, storage and backup systems, communications systems, and cloud resources
- Leads vendor selection and implementation for core infrastructure platforms and services, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget
- Conducts regular performance and capacity reviews of IT infrastructure systems and network devices and develops improvement plans to optimize service delivery and user experience
- Implements, tests and maintains the Infrastructure Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity program
- Monitors and supports centralized systems and services such as backup operations, printing, storage, networking, telephony/communication systems, centralized logging systems
- Configure and optimize network performance (Aruba/HP, Dell), troubleshoot protocols (spanning tree, OSPF, BGP, IGMP, QoS, SSL VPN, 802.1x), and resolve complex connectivity issues
- Implements and enforces information security standards and controls to proactively address security threats and vulnerabilities related to operating systems, servers and networks
- Leads the operational support and maintenance of Identity and Access Management (AD, OKTA, and ClearPass) and Information Security systems (firewalls, VPN, and IDS)
Required Qualifications (What You Bring)
- College Diploma or University degree in Information Technology, related field or equivalent experience
- Advanced level IT industry certifications with focus on on-premises/cloud systems technologies, people management, and project management
- 10+ years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure roles, with 5+ years of in a senior architecture or technology lead role.
- 3-5 years of experience leading and delivering IT infrastructure or related technical projects.
- Extensive expertise in enterprise infrastructure architecture, including compute, backup and storage, telephony, networking, virtualization, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid cloud strategies.
- Strong understanding of middleware, identity management, Microsoft 365 environments, and communication technologies.
- Proficient in configuring, monitoring, and optimizing complex network environments and telephony systems with an understanding of network management software, concepts, trends, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Strong thought leadership with an ability to influence and guide technical teams and stakeholders
- Proven experience in cross-functional collaboration, vendor management, and full-cycle project management.
- Strong organizational abilities, presentation skills, interpersonal and communication skills, working with users of varying technical expertise.
- In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity principles, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
- Proficiency in infrastructure automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Powershell, Power Automate, etc.), monitoring platforms, and ITIL-based service management frameworks.
