This is a student position of 20 hours per week, for a 3-year period, from Summer 2025 to Fall 2027.
$28.99 to $37.53 per hour (Students receive about $30,000 per year, payable in equal installments each two weeks.)

Assessment accommodation

Successful completion of both a RAP work assignment and your educational program may lead to a temporary or permanent federal public service position for which you meet the merit criteria and conditions of employment.

Duties

1. Conduct Literature Review: Perform a comprehensive review of existing literature related to time series clustering, stochastic modeling, and occupant behavior simulation.
2. Preprocess and Analyze Data: Extract and preprocess Time of Use data, perform clustering, and analyze the results.
3. Develop Models: Create transition matrices and Markov models for generating stochastic schedules.
4. Validate and Refine Models: Validate models using actual Time of Use data and refine based on findings.
5. Integrate Models: Assist in integrating the developed models with NRCan’s platforms.
6. Report and Publication: Prepare and submit various reports and research papers based on the project's findings and methodologies.

Education:
Must be in their first year of a PhD program, or about to start a PhD, in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering disciplines with an energy background in Civil or Building Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related disciplines).

Note: Must be currently recognized as having full-time student status in the academic institution in which you are presently enrolled, pending approval of acceptance or in the process of submitting your application. Proof of enrollment will be required prior to start date and the student must be returning to full-time studies for your next academic term.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
Experience in energy or building energy-related projects and familiarity with the field.

Note: In the context of student recruitment in the Federal Public Service, the experience can be acquired through the studies, work experience, or volunteer activities.

Asset Experience:
Experience in software development.
