Duties

If you’re passionate about food and creating exceptional dining experiences, this lead role is for you!

As a culinary maestro in this dynamic role, working with a team, you will deliver delicious meals through multiple culinary services, including cafeteria style, in-house fine dining and takeout.

You will play a key role in kitchen operations, manage supplies, assist in menu planning, and promote a healthy environment. With meal preparation, your attention to detail will be crucial as you weigh, portion, and package food while maintaining a clean workspace.

These positions are based at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Esquimalt, located in Victoria, British Columbia.

Intent of the process

The immediate need of this process is to fill six (6) full time determinate (term) civilian positions in CFB Esquimalt, British Columbia. These are English essential, 2-year term positions.

The official location of these positions (designated work site) to be staffed is CFB Esquimalt and requires full-time on-site attendance.

As a result of this process, a pool of candidates may be established and used to fill the same or similar positions with various tenures, operational requirements, and conditions of employment.

EX1. Experience working as a cook or chef in an institutional, industrial or commercial food services environment such as, but not limited to hotels, catering services, hospitals, nursing homes, educational institutes, correctional facilities or camps.

AEX1. Experience in preparing banquet or formal dining meals, focusing on quality, taste, and presentation.

AEX2. Experience in safe food handling, storage, and preparation, adhering to internal and provincial Food Safety guidelines.

AEX3. Experience in minimizing food waste and overproduction through proper food rotation, labeling, and storage, helping to manage costs effectively.

AAB1. Ability to organize and understand menus, recipes, meal preparation, and large quantity cooking practices for an institutional, industrial or commercial food service facility.
