Duties
1. Assisting with data analysis and processing of Earth Observation data for quantitative agricultural monitoring.
2. Developing innovative procedures for modeling and simulations in quantitative agricultural monitoring using a combination of various spatial data including Earth Observation data sets from multiple sources over study sites in Canada.
Work environment
The hiring division; Agroclimate, Geomatics and Earth Observation (ACGEO), is a virtual centre where staff are located across Canada. Team members participate in project activities virtually on a collaborative basis.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)
Education:
Position 1: Currently enrolled by the date of appointment in a Ph.D. (doctorate) program in a recognized post-secondary academic institution in Canada with specialization in: image processing applied to environmental sciences and/or agriculture.
Position 2: Currently enrolled by the date of appointment in a M.Sc. (master’s) program in a recognized post-secondary academic institution in Canada with specialization in: image processing applied to environmental sciences and/or agriculture.
Note: Must be currently recognized as having full-time student status in the academic institution in which you are presently enrolled, pending approval of acceptance or in the process of submitting your application. (Proof of enrollment will be required prior to start date) and must be returning to full-time studies for your next academic term.
Experience:
Experience working with geospatial data sets for agriculture or environmental applications.
Experience with processing remotely sensed imagery for agriculture or environmental applications.
Experience of automating geoprocessing tasks using advanced Python programming.
Experience in creating simulations using geospatial and Earth Observation data.
Experience in application of AI-based methods in image processing for agricultural applications.
