The RCMP hires civilian employees in a wide variety of disciplines to support our police officers at detachments and offices. Civilian employees play a critical role in delivering services to our communities and supporting our local, provincial and national policing priorities.

The Detachment Services Assistant provides administrative and operational support services for police officers and other employees at a Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) detachment. This position also provides front counter and telephone assistance, services and information to the general public.

Intent of the process

📌 This selection process will initially be used to staff one (1) vacant, temporary position. A pool of qualified candidates inclusive of Public Service (PS) employees and Civilian Members (CM); may be established through this process to staff identical or similar CR-05/SPS-CK-05 positions on a temporary or permanent full-time basis within Pictou County.

Please note that an assignment appointment requires approval of your supervisor.

Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member.

Reliability Status security clearance - 📢 NOTE: Successful candidates will require a valid RCMP security clearance prior to appointment and throughout the tenure of their employment. The process to obtain RCMP security clearance involves a security/reliability interview and a field investigation regarding matters of criminal activity which includes reference checks, verification of credit/financial status, education, employment, etc . As such, the process may take several weeks or months to complete.
