Duties

Main duties:
Project Managers are in charge of real property projects entrusted to the department. They enter into agreements with clients on the parameters (scope, time frame, budget) and pull together the required resources (internal and external experts from all disciplines, consultants, and contractors) to complete them, in accordance and rules of conformity and quality. They provide services for real property projects of all kinds: workplace layout, marine infrastructure, airport facilities, penitentiaries, heritage buildings, dredging, etc.
Project management services are provided through specific areas of expertise in architecture and engineering- landscape architecture, heritage, marine engineering-which allow to provision of quality integrated services.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
🎓AR-05:, the required studies are “a degree in architecture from a recognized post-secondary institution”

OR

“a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization** in landscape architecture”.

OR


🎓EN-ENG-04: A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.


* The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

Degree equivalency

Experiences:
✍️Significant and recent* experience in the direct management** of real property projects or programs*** for example the management of timelines, budgets, scope requirements, linkages with multidisciplinary consultants, internal and external.

✍️Experience in leading multi-disciplinary project teams (includes consultants or contractors).

Definitions:

* “Significant and Recent experience*” is defined generally as varied work experience of about five (5) years acquired in about the last seven (7) years. Relative complexity of the work performed will be based on the characteristics of projects or programs such as safety or regulatory requirements, the number of stakeholders, the presence of a strong heritage or environmental component, dependencies with other projects, technical difficulty, sustainable development, etc.

Direct management** is defined as direct responsibility.

“Real Property Projects or Programs ***” means all property asset acquisitions or improvements, including entering into a lease, and doing corrective or betterment work such as fit-up of accommodation space, construction, renovation and remediation of a built-work (building, bridge, dam, road, etc.) or on land. They are deemed to include demolition, disposal and maintenance projects or any project activity related to property assets or space.

Asset Qualifications:
🎓AR-05: Be a Member of l’Ordre des architectes du Québec.
🎓EN-ENG-04: Be a Member of l’Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
🎓Education or certification related to Project or Real-Property management (for example, Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification).

✍️Experience in civil engineering projects (for example: bridges, roads, water/sanitary/storm systems, sewage system);

✍️Experience in building marine infrastructure (for example: wharf, breakwater, dredging, bank protection);

✍️Experience in building projects (for example: exterior envelope or various building systems or office space);

✍️Experience in heritage conservation projects (e.g. restoration of listed/recognized buildings or structures of art);

✍️Experience with secure facility projects (for example: detention facility, border crossing);

✍️Experience with airport facility projects (for example: terminal, warehouse, airstrip);

✍️Experience in site development projects in a natural or urban setting (e.g., parking, extensive infrastructure, site remediation);

✍️Experience in building or engineering projects in a northern climate;

✍️Experience in projects requiring collaboration with Indigenous groups.
