Duties
The architect is part of the Microsoft Power BI Centre of Excellence under the Data Warehouse Services (DWS) team.
The architect will work with users, developers, data modellers, DBAs and consultants in order to maintain an efficient reporting system running on SSAS Tabular and Power BI Report Server.
DWS will be migrating their data marts to the Microsoft Azure Cloud and DWS will be leveraging Microsoft Fabric in the near future to improve their analytics.
The architect will also advise on the methods that can be used to efficiently transfer data from on premise sources to the Data Lake and other databases in the Cloud.
Their responsibilities include:
• Training and advising users on developing dashboards with Power BI Desktop;
• Updating Power BI Report Server;
• Liaising with data modellers regarding modelling data in Power BI Desktop and SSAS Tabular;
• Writing and/or updating Authority to Operate (ATO) documents such as the Concept of Operations (CONOPS) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) documents.

EDUCATION
Graduation from a two-year program of study from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, that is comparable to a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization relevant to the work to be performed, may serve as an alternative to meet the minimum education standard. EXPERIENCE
Recent* and significant** experience providing expertise and/or leadership in the implementation, integration, maintenance, and support of Microsoft Power BI Report Server and Microsoft SSAS Tabular.
Recent* and significant** experience with analysis, design, development, implementation of complex reports & dashboards using Microsoft Power BI Desktop.
Experience developing and maintaining dimensional data models in relational databases and/or Microsoft SSAS Tabular using industry best practice.
Recent* and significant** experience with SQL.
Recent* experience using DAX and Power Query(M) languages.
* Recent is defined as performing the duties within the last five (5) years.
** Significant is defined as performing the duties for a minimum of two (2) years.

Experience in using one or more of the following products in a production environment: Microsoft Power BI service, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure Synapse, Azure Synapse Pipelines, Self-Hosted Integration Runtime (SHIR),On-Premises Data Gateway.
Experience with writing Authority to Operate (ATO) documents including Concept of Operations (CONOPS) and Standard Operation Procedures (SOP).
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Willingness to work overtime occasionally and on short notice.
