Work environment

First Nations and Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB), Indigenous Services Canada, is recruiting a Regional Nutritionist to provide quality, evidence-informed services, respectful of culture and intended to enhance the health of First Nations peoples in Saskatchewan. The Regional Nutritionist collaborates in the delivery of comprehensive health programs which include promoting, protecting and preserving the health of First Nations populations. Health Care programs are designed in partnership with community members and leaders to promote environments that support good health.

By joining our team, you will build strong working relationships with First Nation communities, partners, and health professionals. The maintenance of cultural competence and the provision of culturally safe care are paramount in these areas of practice.

Selected candidates must reside in, or be willing to relocate to Saskatchewan at the time of appointment.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff an indeterminate position based out of Regina, Saskatchewan.

A pool of qualified or partially assessed candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level with various language requirements, various security requirements, various conditions of employment, various tenures (acting, assignment/secondment, deployment, term and/or indeterminate), and in various locations within Saskatchewan.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
•Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in nutrition, dietetics or home economics from a recognized post-secondary institution

Degree equivalency

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
•Eligibility for registration as a Registered Dietitian in a province or territory of Canada

EXPERIENCE:
•Experience providing nutrition services in a community based setting

•Experience developing, delivering or evaluating nutrition programs

•Experience providing guidance to health care professionals on public health nutrition

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

ASSET EDUCATION:
•Graduation with a Masters’ degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in nutrition, public health, community nutrition or other discipline relevant to the position.

Degree equivalency

ASSET EXPERIENCE:
•Experience developing resource materials to support public health programs and services

•Experience implementing principles of adult education

•Experience in budget management (i.e. management of program funding, expenditures, program allocations or forecasting).

•Experience working in rural, remote or isolated locations

•Experience working with Indigenous people or organizations

ORGANIZATIONAL NEED:

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
•Willingness to relocate to Saskatchewan
•Availability for regional and national travel. Incumbents may be required to travel by vehicle or small fixed-wing aircraft, and occasionally into remote northern locations.
•Willingness and ability to work flexible or irregular hours
•Willingness and ability to work overtime in the event of a Public Health emergency or outbreak

Conditions of employment

•Reliability status security clearance
•Registration in good standing with the Saskatchewan Dietitians Association
•Possession of a valid driver’s license or personal mobility to a degree normally associated with the possession of a driver's license
