Lerners is seeking a Law Clerk to support the Family Law practice group in the London, Ontario office. The ideal candidate will have over three (3) years of experience working in a similar position. This is a Hybrid position and requires a minimum of three (3) days in office or as required.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Meeting with clients to review and sign legal documents
  • Conducting conflict searches and assisting with file opening and intake
  • Organizing, maintaining, and updating physical and electronic client files
  • Tracking, organizing, and managing ongoing client financial and legal disclosure
  • Preparing and updating Continuing Records and Endorsement Records
  • Drafting professional correspondence with clients, opposing counsel, and third parties
  • Drafting, reviewing, and finalizing Financial Statements with supporting documentation
  • Preparing Net Family Property Statements and Comparative Net Family Property analyses
  • Reviewing and analyzing financial documentation, including tax returns and bank statements
  • Calculating child support, spousal support, and special or extraordinary expenses
  • Drafting affidavits in support of custody and access claims
  • Preparing Case Conference, Settlement Conference, and Trial Scheduling Endorsement Forms
  • Drafting conference briefs, mediation briefs, and related pleadings
  • Drafting summonses to witnesses and coordinating witness communication
  • Preparing Bills of Costs
  • Compiling trial records, trial books, and Books of Authorities
  • Organizing evidence, preparing exhibits, and assisting with trial preparation
  • Preparing trial notes and litigation materials as required
  • Serving and filing documents in accordance with court rules and deadlines
  • Managing filing systems, deadline tracking and scheduling as needed
  • Ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with Family Law Rules and court procedures

          Qualifications:

          • At least three (3) years of experience as a Law Clerk
          • Experience in Family Law is strongly preferred
          • A keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills
          • A strong work ethic
          • The ability to work effectively on a team and individually
          • Excellent communication skills
          • Experience with technology and working in a hybrid environment
          • Experience with ACL, DivorceMate and Document Management Systems is an asset

          Salary:

          Target Hiring Range: $65,075 to $85,600.

          Commensurate with skill level, years of experience, and aligned with internal and market equity.
