PROFILE

The Pricing & Legal Project Management Analyst will be responsible for providing analytical support to the pricing team and legal project management (LPM) function.

This role can be based in any of our Canadian offices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide analytical support to the Pricing and LPM team to assist with day-to-day special rates approvals.
  • Support the client/matter rate renewal process.
  • Maintain a database of pricing engagements, fee proposals, volume discounts, and billing guidelines. Prepare quarterly reporting based on data from the pricing database.
  • Assist with matter tagging and reporting at matter opening to ensure Alternate Fee Arrangements are tracked properly in Aderant.
  • Provide financial and profitability analysis on pricing proposals, historical portfolio activity, and current performance. Work closely with the Legal Team and Proposals Team on Requests for Proposals for new and existing clients.
  • Use Excel, Power Pivot, Power BI and other tools to develop analytical reports to assist with matter management, alternative fee structures, and other tasks.
  • Update budget data on the firm’s CAEL pricing and LPM platform and to assist legal team with budget on CAEL when needed.
  • Perform rates-related analysis to assist the legal team, and undertake other tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, with 1-3 years of financial analysis experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is also acceptable. Experience in a law firm or professional services organization is preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in data analytics and critical thinking to deliver practical analyses.
  • Proficiency in Excel is required; experience with Microsoft SQL, Power Pivot, Power BI is considered an asset.
  • Track record of producing quality analytical output with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong emphasis on delivering exceptional client service.
  • Ability to work and collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Capable of working independently and managing multiple projects with tight deadlines.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to efficiently multi-task and prioritize work.
  • Working towards a finance professional designation such as CPA or CFA, is an asset.
  • Experience in project management is an asset.

The starting range for this role is $54,000 to $75,000. Starting salary will be determined based on an applicant’s individual skills, competencies and unique qualifications. Gowling WLG employees have the potential to exceed this range based on tenure and performance.
