Who are we looking for?

Our Western Canadian Contaminated Assessment and Remediation team is seeking an experienced Environmental Project Coordinator with a strong background in Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), remediation and reclamation to be based out of our Edmonton, Alberta office.

The ideal candidate will bring 3 to 7 years of experience and be capable of scoping and executing environmental projects such as Phase 1 ESAs, Phase 2 ESAs, remediation, groundwater monitoring programs and wellsite and pipeline reclamation activities along with preparation and submission of associated reporting to the Alberta Environment and Protected Areas and the Alberta Energy Regulator. This individual will be expected to assist in project management and nurture solid client relationships, helping drive revenue growth in the region. This individual will plan, coordinate and perform site assessments with the collection of field information, analysis of environmental data, and generation of environmentally responsible solutions to meet regulatory obligations and site closure for our clientele.

Field work may be required periodically in this role but it is primarily office-based.

As part of a diverse global team, you will work on complex and rewarding contaminated site related projects in both the oil & gas industry as well as a variety of provincial and federal commercial and industrial sites and have opportunity to be at the forefront of driving technological advancements.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Contaminated Sites Investigation and Remediation Design: Planning and execution of engineering and scientific solutions to bring sites to closure through assessment, remediation and/or risk assessment, that conforms to organizational and/or regulatory standards.
  • Team Collaboration - participate in a team environment working closely with other Project Coordinators, Project Managers (PMs), Project Directors (PDs) and Technical Leads as well as other Field Technicians/Scientists/Engineers to progress contaminated sites towards closure.
  • Professional Supervision: Provide effective field and office mentoring of more junior environmental practitioners' professional development. Assist with project resourcing, systems and processes to ensure timely delivery of services meeting client requirements and budgets with strong technical abilities.
  • Project Coordination: Assist PMs and Pds from proposal through to execution in accordance with our project management and quality performance metrics. This will include working on a portfolio of projects reporting to the Business Group Leader (BGL) on both federally regulated and provincially regulated projects for several clients. Note: experience working with oil & gas sites is of benefit.
  • Client & Customer Engagement (External): Nurture important client relationships and engaging with industry networks; working with PMs and PDs to ensure delivery of an enhanced client experience.
  • Health, Safety, Quality and Environment: Maintain health, safety, quality and environment key performance indicators (KPIs) and behaviors.
  • Culture of Innovation: Drive a culture of innovation by creating multistakeholder solutions that boost creativity, innovation, and collaboration across business units

What you will bring to the team:

  • Bachelor and/or master's degree in environmental science, engineering or related discipline
  • Registration with a professional designation in Alberta (e.g. P.Eng or P.Geo or P.Ag) is an asset.
  • 3 to 7 years of experience with contaminated site assessments, remediation and reclamation.
  • Working knowledge in the oil & gas industry would be considered an asset.
  • Expertise in field assessments, technical reporting and project management
  • Knowledge of provincial and federal legislation and regulatory requirements surrounding contaminated sites in Alberta
  • Mentoring skills with a desire to help the advancement of team members in their career pursuits
  • Self-motivated with strong time management and organizational ability
  • Strong communication and writing skills with a collaborative mindset
  • Valid driver's license
