We are seeking a Team Lead for our Contaminated Site Assessment and Remediation in our Bedford office within the Eastern Canada region. Your role will be to continue our expansion of a highly growing and successful group. The Team Lead will be responsible for coaching the team and monitoring project utilization and performance, achievement of revenue and growth targets, as well as providing support to the Business Group Leader with the development and implementation of business plans.

Working with an energetic and high-performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Internal Communications: Work with Project Managers, Project Leads and Project Teams to improve project execution skills within the business group; Collaborate with the Regional Project Management Office;

  • Improvement/Innovation: Provide hands-on technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and technical staff in the delivery of projects; Promote and participate in the development of innovative project delivery methods;
  • Budgeting and Costing: Develop and/or deliver budget plans with guidance from senior colleagues;

  • Operations Management: Coach, develop and work closely with the team to achieve the performance criteria established for the business group;

  • Business Requirements Identification: Develop and review bid responses, scope of work packages, budgets and progress reports;

  • Leadership and Direction: Inspire a collaborative environment to foster commitment, development and retention of staff within the group; Act as an ambassador to attract and promote career opportunities; Be a transformational agent to promote GHD values; Demonstrate and promote project execution skills by working with project managers and coordinators, as well as single-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary teams;
  • Performance Management: Manage and report on the performance of a substantial, diverse team; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports or project/account team members and hold individuals accountable for achieving them; take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of team/personal objectives;

  • Building Capability: Actively collaborate with other Team Leads within your business group to achieve excellent business outcomes;

  • Feasibility Studies: Conduct complex feasibility studies from a technological and organizational perspective and document findings to complete cost-benefit analysis on implementing changes to business processes, products, or business unit structure;

  • Project Management: Ensure the management of Contaminated Assessment and Remediation projects; Act as Project Manager or Project Director on appropriate projects; Coordinate and support internal and external teams in the supervision of the work in collaboration with the client's manager; Lead single and multi-disciplinary teams to ensure technical success and soundness of projects and meet or exceed client and GHD requirements

  • Strategic Planning: Identify and coordinate all subcontractors required for the projects;

  • Client & Customer Management (External): Leverage GHD's existing clients in the industrial and energy markets; Maintain effective relationships with key existing customers while expanding project opportunities.

What you will bring to the team:

  • University degree in engineering or relevant field

  • Minimum of 10 years in project management and/or direction in multidisciplinary projects

  • Minimum 5 years experience in managing, developing and mentoring professional and technical staff

  • Environmental experience an asset

  • Professional Engineering designation or Professional Geologist an asset

  • Good knowledge and proven experience in project execution and proficiency in the Office and MS Project environment

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, both verbal and written

  • Capability to manage priorities and intervene as needed

  • Ability to adapt leadership style according to team composition

  • Good emotional intelligence

  • Expertise to gather, influence and motivate a group of professionals

  • Excellent people management and mentoring skills

  • Team player with leadership skills

  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills
