Who are we looking for?

We are looking for an Leader Energy and Infrastructure Sustainability to work closely with the Americas Business Group Leader and our Sustainability Advisory Team to support GHD's growth in the market.

The goal for GHD is to be a premier Sustainability consultant with a strategic focus across Private, Municipal, Water and Transportation markets in the USA and Canada. Closely cooperating with other GHD business leaders and the broader GHD business, this role is a key element of our growth strategy.

Developing meaningful and technically based carbon reduction strategies for infrastructure is a key area for growth within our sustainability practice that focuses on providing commercial value to our clients. This includes sustainability and resiliency projects related to vehicle fleet optimization, sustainable water/wastewater and transportation infrastructure, and community infrastructure.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Lead the growth and development of our energy and infrastructure sustainability practice with a focus on Ontario and Canada, and the Americas more broadly. Lead the connection from the sustainability team to the energy team for work winning and delivery will be very important to the success of both the sustainability team and energy team given the close interactions here.
  • Specific areas of growth include:
    • Energy conservation and optimization with large energy using clients (I&M, chemicals, mining, etc) with a focus on demand side energy management
    • Fleet optimization and planning with a focus on alternative fuel opportunities (e.g., mining fleet decarbonization is an area of focused growth for GHD in the Americas) through leading our ZEVO platform. Looking at clean fuels credit opportunities for clients and development of strategic approaches.
    • Energy management and optimization working with utilities and community or industrial energy systems (I have a few examples of recent proposals we have submitted in this area where we are seeing growth)
    • Working with GHD key clients to expand and grow opportunities with energy management and optimization and sustainability in general
  • Supporting enterprise client program, would work to identify 1 or 2 potential growth clients in Ontario (or broader) where she could play a leadership role in developing for GHD as a whole, not just sustainability or Business Advisory with the idea of working towards a formal RM role as either these clients grow the level of an enterprise client or and enterprise client is identified that needs an RM that she is a fit for.
  • Seller doer role – 40% seller/60% doer or something close to that. This would be a ramp up over time not expected to hit this day one (4 to 6 months).
  • People Leadership: 3-4 direct reports in the Toronto office initially and would grow as pipeline and backlog growth develops. Act as a mentor and leader to the broader sustainability team as a senior consultant.
  • Work closely with cross functional teams, specifically in BA (commercial/strategy, engagement, asset management, location intelligence and data analytics) to bring integrated solutions to clients

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Level
  • 10+ years’ experience in Consultancy specifically around infrastructure sustainability, GHG emissions, decarbonization and net zero planning capability area and delivery commercial value to clients
  • Experience ideally gained from working within a management consulting business or in a relevant discipline within public and/or private sector
  • A strong network, and a successful track record of building credibility with clients and winning work reflected in the achievement of revenue and growth targets
  • An ability to work autonomously and collaboratively across a host of technical disciplines and industrial sectors
  • Agility to think across sectors to bring value to clients
  • Exceptional relationship management and written and verbal communication skills to work with a diverse client group with a variety of needs
  • Sound understanding of sectors including a selection of: public sector water/wastewater, transportation and community infrastructure, and power, as well as an appreciation for sectoral decarbonization policy, strategy and/or obligations

Salary range: $160,000 to $180,000 per year.
