Intermediate Project Manager – Natural Resources and Impact Assessment

We are currently looking for an Intermediate Project Manager to join our teams in our Fredericton, or our Halifax office. You will be responsible for leading projects, conducting impact assessments and collaborating with natural resources and impact assessment team in Eastern Canada

Working with an energetic and high-performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

Responsibilities

  • Project Design, Implementation and Reporting: Lead various impact assessment and permitting projects in Eastern Canada and work closely with senior impact assessment specialists to develop large impact studies. Develop, manage and report on engagement processes involving communities, stakeholders and Indigenous groups. Coordinate internal GHD environmental disciplines and external sub-consultants. Provide plain language summaries of complex social and economic information.
  • Environmental Risk Management: Oversee the preparation of environmental management plans.
  • Project Management: Manage project execution, including tracking project metrics (e.g., tasks, schedules, work hours, budgets and expenditures) using project scheduling and cost control tools. As well as lead client discussions.
  • Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong supportive relationships with co-workers, clients and project partners to successfully execute project deliverables. Mentor and support junior staff.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow the organization’s health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well‑being of yourself and others in the workplace. Identify risky behaviors within the team and take appropriate steps to address them, escalating serious issues as needed.
  • Business Development: Support business development efforts, including potential client / prospect identification, proposal writing and client-facing activities.
  • Bid Solicitation / Request for Proposal / Offer Preparation: Contribute to the preparation of service proposals and business development efforts.
  • Personal and skills development: Develop your own capabilities by participating in assessment and development‑planning activities, as well as formal and informal training and coaching. Obtain or maintain external professional accreditation, where applicable, to improve performance and grow your career at GHD. Maintain an understanding of relevant technologies, external regulations, and industry best practices through continuous learning, attending conferences, and reading specialized publications.

What you will bring to the team:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or Sociology
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in impact assessment, or in natural resources
  • Good knowledge of provincial and federal environmental legislation.
  • Very good technical writing skills and able to write and edit reports, analysis, and RPFs.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize shifting workloads with our team
  • Proven experience in delivering impact assessments.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle;
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments; meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed.
  • Excellent written and speaking skills in English, French would be an asset
  • Attention to detail. Ability to analyze and synthesize.
  • Available to manage, coordinate and/or work on sites throughout Atlantic Canada, or outside the Region, on occasion.
