Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in (responsibilities):
- Project Collaboration: Work in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary project team to complete projects involving biophysical surveys, environmental assessments and permitting, contaminated sites investigation, and remediation.
- Field Program Participation: Participate in field programs to evaluate the natural environment for a range of private and public clients.
- Document Preparation: Prepare moderately complex documents using various applications for technology devices, including standard office software. Responsible for gathering and summarizing data for reports, including technical documents such as draft work plans, reports, and biological/chemical datasets.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Collect data from a variety of standard sources and input it into standard formats to produce accurate reports. Assist with data compilation, analysis, and evaluation using scientific principles and problem-solving skills.
- Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE): Prepare project support documents such as health and safety plans. Follow organizational HSE policies and procedures to identify and mitigate risks. Instruct team members in safe working methods and escalate serious issues as appropriate.
- Research and Regulatory Review: Conduct research activities to support others and review provincial and federal acts and regulations to ensure compliance and informed decision-making.
- Simulation and Modeling: Engage in the design and development of complex simulations or models to optimize designs or predict risks.
- Sampling and Testing: Collect straightforward samples and perform testing as directed, following defined processes to support regulatory compliance.
- Coordination and Administration: Coordinate internal environmental disciplines and external sub-consultants. Assist with contract administration and cost control.
- Personal Capability Building: Continuously develop and maintain strong process or technical skills through assessments, development planning, formal training, and coaching.
Report Writing:
- Responsible for creating draft reports to be reviewed by supervisor or project manager
- Responsible for creating charts and figures for review by project manager
- Assist in the preparation of project related datasets, specifically biophysical and chemical
- Assisting Project Manager with proposal writing
What will you bring to the team:
- Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Environmental Engineering, Science or similar.
- 0-2 years of environmental science or biophysical experience and open to recent grads
- Strong technical writing, data analysis and interpretation skills
- Willing to travel for work and able to conduct fieldwork
- Previous experience in biophysical surveys and contamination assessment and remediation is an asset
- Previous field experience is an asset
- Must hold a valid Driver’s license
