Senior Civil Water Resources Engineer

Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer – Water and Wastewater to work out of our Fredericton office and continue our expansion of our water team. You will be part of the Water Practice in Eastern Canada and will work with the Water Group Business Leader to execute projects and work with staff in all Business Lines.
Responsibilities
- Engineering Solutions Design: Design engineering solutions and the associated validation process to enable the realization of a design brief (for example, in terms of functionality, performance, aesthetics, and cost) that conforms to organizational and/or regulatory standards; Apply proven experience on municipal and industrial process projects to complete preliminary and detailed design of process and potable water supply, distribution and storage systems, pumping stations, and wastewater treatment facilities.
- Engineering Standards Specification: Contribute to the analysis of information, the drafting of engineering standards and specifications, and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards within one's own engineering discipline to inform engineering work in the organization and/or of its suppliers, contractors, and consultants. Provide guidance and QA/QC on all engineering design, calculations, design briefs and technical reports for municipal and industrial process, masterplans, environmental assessments, and detailed design projects.
- Project Management: Deliver small- or medium-scale projects while working within an established program management plan; Collaborates with other business groups and leads staff for technical support on projects. Act as Project Manager on appropriate projects.
- Collaboration: Work with Water staff, Team Leads and the Business Group Leader to improve project delivery.
- Mentorship: Provide hands-on technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and technical staff in delivering ongoing municipal, water & wastewater projects.
- Engineering Inspections: Carry out inspections to evaluate the quality of engineering works and/or the integrity of existing installations or structures, and specify the remedial works needed to ensure conformance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Improvement/Innovation: Identify shortcomings in existing processes, systems, and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them.
- Client & Customer Management (External): Manage relationships with small clients while also helping senior colleagues manage relationships with larger key clients and customers.
Skills, Competencies and Qualifications
- University Engineering Degree in Civil Engineering a master’s would be considered an asset;
- Member of APEGNB or Engineers Nova Scotia, acting as a member of the OIQ would be an asset;
- Minimum 12-15 years’ experience in Project Management, design and construction of water infrastructure projects;
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, both oral and written;
- Excellent people leadership & mentoring skills.
