We are seeking a Business Group Leader – Contaminated Site Assessment & Remediation to continue our expansion of a highly growing and successful group.

Multiple locations available: Montréal, Québec City or Atlantic Canada.

The Business Group Leader (BGL) is accountable for performance and growth of the Business Group. The BGL demonstrates a strong leadership and supervises a team of professionals spread over several business locations by promoting career development based on quality, respect and teamwork. In addition, the BGL oversees utilization and project performance, achievement of revenue and growth targets, and development and implementation of the business plan.

People

  • Work closely with team leaders to achieve the performance objectives established for the business group
  • Coach and develop the group to achieve strategic objectives
  • Inspire a collaborative environment to foster commitment, development and retention of staff within the group
  • Act as an ambassador to attract and promote career opportunities
  • Be a transformational agent to promote GHD values
  • Actively collaborate with other Business Group leaders within the region and across Canada, as well as with Market Leaders and Regional and North America Client Sector Leaders to achieve excellent business outcomes
  • Work with Project Managers, Project Leads and Project Teams to improve project execution skills within the business group
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and technical staff in the delivery of projects
  • Demonstrate support and compliance with the requirements of the GHD HSE Management system and management participation matrix
  • Act as Project Manager or Project Director on appropriate projects

Performance

  • Ensure sustainable growth of the Business Group's net revenue
  • Drive financial performance with respect to contribution. Monitor and manage backlog, utilization, DSO, variances, and markups.
  • Develop and prepare annual business group budget and proactively monitor progress
  • Managing the allocation of people to projects in agreement with the Project Manager
  • Manage and mitigate risks within the Business Group
  • Apply GHD’s Management Systems for Safety, Integrity, Quality, and Environment
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients
  • Ensure technical soundness of work produced by the Business Group

Business Development & Client Service:

  • Develop and implements Business Group Business Plan
  • Build effective relationships with Business Group key clients
  • Lead project capture plans, coordination of proposal preparation and activities while aligned with regional objectives
  • Actively participates in client functions, professional and/or industrial organizations to promote GHD brand

Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:

  • University degree in engineering
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or other similar Provincial designation
  • Minimum 15 years of experience as a leader of a successful team
  • Minimum of 10 years in project management and/or direction in multidiscipline projects
  • Established client base in transportation, federal, energy and resources, building and water related business markets
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, both verbal and written (English*/French)
  • Capability to manage priorities and intervene as needed
  • Ability to adapt leadership style according to team composition
  • Good emotional intelligence
  • Expertise to gather, influence and motivate a group of professionals
  • Excellent people management and mentoring skills
  • Team player with leadership skills
  • Analytical mindset with problem solving skills
  • Experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams.
