Who are we looking for?

Our Peterborough office is looking to fill an Environmental Field Technician/Technologist position in our growing Canadian Operations.

Working with an upbeat and hard-working team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Work in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary project team to complete projects incorporating contaminated sites investigation and remediation.
  • Provide the Technical Lead or senior team members with implementation plans for a part of the project or project team.
  • Oversight of drilling investigations involving environmental components including coordination and review of utility locates and utility drawings.
  • Assist with fieldwork, including environmental monitoring, drilling oversight, and remediation contractor oversight.
  • Apply engineering principles and use problem-solving skills to collect, assess, and interpret data under the guidance of a skilled project manager.
  • Prepare technical documents, including draft work plans, environmental sampling and analysis plans, reports, and correspondence.
  • Prepare project support documents, including scopes of work and health and safety plans.
  • Organize field programs including coordination with chemists and laboratory vendors to order sample bottles and jars and coordination with field equipment managers and vendors to arrange for field equipment.
  • Connect with client contact under the supervision of the Supervisor, Project Director, or Project Manager
  • Connect with vendors and contractors.
  • Assist with contract administration and cost control.
  • Supervise the performance of junior team members to ensure compliance with procedures, processes, and standards.
  • Research, review, and understand municipal, provincial, and federal acts, and regulations.
  • Participate in design and project management meetings.

Report Writing:

  • Assist in creating draft reports to be reviewed by supervisor or project manager
  • Responsible for creating charts and figures for review by project manager
  • Development of borehole logs
  • Compilation of field data tables
  • Assist in the preparation of project-related memoranda

What you will bring to the team:

  • College Diploma in an Earth Science, Environmental, or Civil Engineering Technology/Technician program or other relevant field
  • 5+ years of environmental consulting experience
  • Previous project experience in contamination assessment and remediation will be considered an asset
  • Previous field experience will be considered an asset
  • Valid First Aid/AED Training certification is considered an asset
  • Willing to travel for work and able to conduct fieldwork
  • Self-starter and finisher, detail orientated, flexible, teammate, and willing and able to do a wide variety of tasks with minimal direction
  • Positive demeanor, safety-mindedness, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills (oral and written)
  • Strong technical writing, data analysis, and interpretation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to manage a variety of tasks, and willingness to meet ambitious deadlines
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook
