GHD is currently seeking applications for Cadet Documentation Technicians to join our business. In this role, under direct supervision, you will learn drafting and design skills across a wide variety of industry sectors and will become competent using the relevant software, appropriate to your chosen discipline / industry sector. Dependent on your discipline and team the software may range from AutoCAD, Revit, 12d, Plant3d, Advance Steel, Inventor or Solidworks.

Key responsibilities of these positions include:

  • Assisting in the preparation of drawings using AutoCAD and or other 3D design/drafting software in the field of engineering. Projects range from, buildings, energy and resources, transport and urban development, water, and mining infrastructure.
  • Collaborating with senior team members on various technical tasks and taking guidance in support of your role
  • Developing your knowledge of GHD's Digital Design Manual and other relevant systems, tools, and processes
  • Developing your knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modelling)
  • Attending TAFE or University and maintaining requirements of a Traineeship or Cadetship, which will include a combination of work-based training and formal training.

What you will bring to the role:

  • QCE (or equivalent) completion with strong academic results in Mathematics and English
  • Experience in AutoCAD desirable but not essential
  • Strong desire to build a rewarding career as a professional drafter/designer
  • Well-developed communication skills and a proven attention to detail
  • Intermediate computer skills coupled with a positive attitude and a desire to learn
  • Genuine interest in technical drawing and engineering
