The Transportation group within GHD Canada works with Provincial, Regional, and local municipal transportation agencies on large scale projects across the whole Transportation spectrum of highways, roads and bridges, and rail transit infrastructure. Our team provides integrated transportation services throughout the project lifecycle from initial policy, business case advice, through concept and detailed design, and construction administration.

Our Western Canada Transportation Group is looking to fill a Lead Structural Engineer - Bridges & Transportation position to join our growing Canadian Operation.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
- Design Management and technical support for execution of existing and new projects.
- Working within traditional and design-build procurement models.
- Ensure timely completion of project deliverables and able to manage several projects at once and determine priorities, including sound judgment and decisiveness.
- Oversee structural analysis, engineering drawings and details from conception to final design, according to established standards and procedures for a wide variety of steel and concrete structures.
- Supervise CAD staff, preparation of construction specifications tender and contract packages, and conduct site inspections of existing structures as well as those under construction.
- Communicate and work with other project team members to provide quality service to clients to ensure that all documentation conforms to client/company standards.
- Prepare effective proposals seeking targeted project opportunities and growth of the structural design team in western Canada.
- Develop and implement QA/QC processes for project work.
What you will bring to the team:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer in BC.
- 15+ years of experience with bridge projects specifically and transportation structures projects in general
- Project Management experience demonstrating effective and practical project management skills.
- Conversant with CHBDC and BCMOTI’s Bridge Standards & Procedures Manual, and municipal specifications and standards.
- Ability to take ownership and accountability for structural design work.
- Strong influencing skills and the ability to develop effective and trustworthy relationships with clients (including constructors), consulting partners and within the organization.
- Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong computer skills including experience in bridge analysis and design software (such as MIDAS) and MS Office.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Excellent report and proposal writing skills.
- Positive attitude, good communication and interpersonal skills.

Salary Range (Vancouver, BC only): $86,520 to $129,780
