Cowan Insurance Group is looking for a Commercial Brokering Specialist to join our D&O, E&O and Cyber Team!

Reporting to the Director, Commercial Brokering, you’ll support our commercial lines sales team to develop marketing strategies, negotiate coverage terms and pricing, and provide recommendations to develop comprehensive and competitive insurance options that meet the needs of our clients. You’re a well-rounded commercial insurance expert who knows underwriting and understands the insurance sales cycle. You’re a strategic problem solver who is not afraid of turning a “No” into a “Yes”. You’re a people person who enjoys building long-lasting relationships with insurance carriers, industry partners, and your colleagues.

What you will do:

  • Working in conjunction with Practice Leaders this role allows you the opportunity to use your Financial Lines technical knowledge (D&O, E&O and/or Cyber) to take commercial submissions to the next level
  • As a thought leader, you’ll stay current on market and industry trends and provide technical advice to your colleagues.
  • You will build strong relationships with insurance markets, attend industry events and report on industry trends to our Commercial team
  • You will attend onsite risk inspections and client presentations as needed

What you will bring:

  • Minimum of 5 years proven Commercial Insurance/Brokerage professional sales management experience is preferred, with expertise in D&O/E&O and Cyber lines.
  • RIBO license is required or ability to obtain
  • CAIB, CIP or CRM designation (or working towards designation) would be an asset
  • Cross-border and specialty lines expertise is considered an asset
  • Self-starter and strategic thinker with a can-do attitude
  • Supportive team player
  • Ability to multi-task and adjust priorities regularly in a fast-paced environment
