Communitech is a hybrid organization headquartered in downtown Kitchener, Ontario. In-person connection is important to us, so we get together regularly for special events, collaboration days and team socials, and we ask our team members to work onsite from our Kitchener facility for a minimum of 2 days per week. Position Summary
Communitech is currently seeking a self-driven, self-directed, passionate business development executive with a proven and demonstrable track record of delivering results in the world of event and program based sponsorships. As the leader of the Business Development team, our VP of Business Development will grow Communitech’s Business Development and Account Management programs. The role will require a strong working relationship with our event and marketing teams in addition to working directly with program teams such as the Founder Service team and various ecosystem players including service providers. Your focus will be to ensure the Communitech internal teams are consistently aligned to business opportunities that arise from exploring program sponsorship that arise throughout our ecosystem.
Responsibilities
Design and lead the implementation of a comprehensive business development strategy to achieve and surpass revenue targets for core programs and events. This includes setting ambitious sponsorship objectives and fostering collaboration with program owners to create high-impact, revenue-generating products aligned with organizational goals.
Cultivate and maintain high-level strategic partnerships with Ecosystem Members, sponsors, and other stakeholders, ensuring Communitech is positioned as a key enabler within the Canadian and local tech ecosystems.
Develop and oversee detailed revenue models with team-specific targets for both new business acquisition and account management, ensuring financial accountability and progress tracking.
Identify, deploy, and manage internal resources against high-growth business development objectives to drive revenue for the organization
Develop and implement a budget to achieve the Program and Events objectives.
Oversee the entire business development lifecycle, including prospecting, proposal development, contract negotiation, and post-sale servicing, ensuring a seamless and impactful partnership experience.
Manage all business development and account management activities, including prospecting, proposal customization and presentation, contract revision and servicing, follow-up and support and representing the organization at community and industry functions.
Prepare and present quarterly sales plans, market forecasts, and executive briefings to the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) and other senior leaders. Offer actionable insights and recommendations for strategic adjustments.
Contribute to Communitech’s program development by collaborating with the program services team using insights, knowledge and analysis of the market.

Requirements
Proven success in senior business development or revenue leadership roles, ideally within the tech, innovation, or non-profit sectors.
Strong track record of developing and executing revenue-generating strategies that exceed targets.
Exceptional ability to build and sustain executive-level relationships and navigate complex stakeholder environments.
Expertise in sponsorship and partnership development, including crafting compelling value propositions and negotiating high-value agreements.
Strong detail and process orientation - can manage multiple competing priorities and customers with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver results
Outstanding relationship and interpersonal skills
Strong communication skills - can develop and deliver an impactful presentation across all levels of an organization
Strong knowledge of sales funnels
Experience working with Salesforce or other CRMs
Ability to travel approximately 10-20% of the time to key partner locations
Excellent team-centric collaboration skills
