Job Status: Continuous Part-Time

Pay & Grade: $35.106 - $43.882 hourly Grade/Band 7

Hours of Work:Up to 24 Hours per week

Initial location: Kitchener City Hall

Overview

As a Corporate Security Guard, you will provide essential security services to protect City property and staff. Your role ensures that everyone can safely use and enjoy City-owned property, safeguarding the rights of all citizens.

Responsibilities

  • Manages behavior and enforces corporate policies and by-laws on all City-owned property.
  • Patrols and monitors activities on all City-owned properties and assets.
  • Responds to city-wide alarms and client requests for assistance.
  • Provides security for corporate special events.
  • Secures City Hall and other corporate properties daily.
  • Operates central alarm monitoring station, CCTV, and audio alarms.
  • Provides directions and assistance to the public and visitors to City Hall, ensuring a friendly and helpful public image.
  • Acts as the person in charge during emergency situations.
  • Appears in court as required.
  • Delivers deposits.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-year Diploma in a related relevant field (ie/ Security Management, Law & Security Administration, Police Foundations) with minimum 1 year of related experience.
  • Valid security license.
  • Valid MTO "G" class driver's license in good standing and be able to operate a city vehicle & must be able to provide Drivers Abstract at your own expense as a condition of employment.
  • Demonstrated understanding in interpreting various acts and authorities under the Criminal Code, Trespass to Property Act, and Municipal Codes.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who possess First Aid, C.P.R. & AED, Use of Force Certification.
  • Excellent public relations skills and ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in a concise and efficient manner.
  • Experience in conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques.
  • Working knowledge of Security related software/equipment, such as the: Axiom System, ITrak, CCTV's and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be a self-starter and demonstrate initiative.
  • Must be willing to work shifts with rotating days off.
  • Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
