Position Overview:

Maintains the cleanliness of the building in which they work by performing various cleaning duties. Prepares facility for rental setup including setting up and taking down tables and chairs.

Please note this job is part of a job pool.

Responsibilities:

  • Clean and disinfect sinks, counter tops, urinals, toilets, walls, showers and all touch spots.
  • Clean and polish stainless steel.
  • Clean floors consisting of dry mopping, wet mopping, floor scrubber, burnishing & buffing.
  • Dust furniture, shelves etc.
  • Clean entrance doors, windows and glass.
  • Clean and disinfect water fountains.
  • Empty garbage, composting and recycling receptables.
  • Restock paper towels and toilet dispensers.
  • Wipe down lockers.
  • Respond to calls for clean up of spills throughout the day.
  • Sweeps and damp mop stairwells.
  • Report damage or vandalism to Supervisor or Facilities Office as required.
  • Order supplies and restock shelves.
  • Rental set ups and take downs.
  • Dry and wet mop floors prior to set ups.
  • Wipe down tables.
  • Arrange tables and chairs as requested.
  • Take down and place tables and chairs back in storage.
  • Various floor scrubbing equipment.
  • Various buffing or burnishing floor machines.
  • Assist Full time Lead hand in the annual stripping and waxing of floors.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Equivalent to partial secondary school education and 3 months in a custodial field.
  • Willing to work various shifts to accommodate work schedules or special projects.
  • Knowledge of proper floor care and cleaning techniques, as per industry standards.
  • Demonstrated custodial experience.
  • Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) for the safe use and clean-up of hazardous materials.
  • Knowledge of the safe and proper use of custodial equipment such as floor-scrubbers, sweepers, burnishers, floor buffers, and steam cleaners for walls and tiles and related procedures.
  • Well developed customer service skills.
  • Valid MTO driver’s license and acceptable driving record may be required.
  • Must be reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
