What You Will Do
- Delivers high-quality customer service to employees by responding to benefits-related questions in a timely, clear, and empathetic manner.
- Monitors the benefits inbox and responds to employee and vendor inquiries. Researches, analyzes, and manages benefit vendors and systems that support the organization’s goals. Holds vendors accountable for meeting service-level expectations.
- Manages core benefits functions, including health, life, and disability insurance, retirement plans, leave administration, and tuition reimbursement. Ensures all programs operate in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
- Designs, implements, and evaluates the organization’s wellness program, with a focus on physical, financial, emotional, and social well-being.
- Manages leave of absence programs (FMLA, parental, medical, etc.), ensuring employees are paid accurately and in accordance with policies and practices.
- Supports onboarding, offboarding, open enrollment, and the overall employee benefits experience, including new hire orientation, enrollment in benefit plans and 401(k) programs, and providing separation-related information such as COBRA options, benefits end dates, and retirement vesting.
- Performs regular audits of benefits data and transactions in Workday to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintains accurate documentation and supports internal and external audits related to benefits programs and compliance.
- Partners with Payroll, external vendors, and other People & Culture functions to ensure alignment and timely processing.
- Prepares and distributes 1094 and 1095 forms annually to meet ACA reporting requirements.
- Participate in ad hoc projects and initiatives as needed.
What You Will Need
- 1+ years of experience in benefits administration or a related HR function
- Proven ability to manage core benefits processes, including health insurance, leave programs, and retirement plans
- Experience working with an HRIS platform; Workday strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of benefits-related laws and compliance requirements, including ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, ACA, and MHPAEA
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential employee information with discretion
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on providing a positive employee experience
- Customer service-oriented approach with the ability to support employees at all levels of the organization
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access)
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently and adapt to evolving needs
What We Offer
- The base salary range for this position is $60K to $70K/year. Offered salary will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to: applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with geographic market data. Business Wire reserves the right to modify this salary range at any time.
