Intent of the process
The intent of this process is to create a pool of candidates to fill current and future vacancies on an indeterminate (permanent) basis in Petawawa, Ontario.
This process may also be used to fill current and future vacancies with various employment tenures (temporary and permanent), language profiles, security requirements, and conditions of employment.
This process may also be used to staff future positions in Suffield, AB; Comox, BC; Esquimalt, BC; Shilo, MB; Borden, ON; Kingston, ON; North Bay, ON; Trenton, ON; and Toronto, ON.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
OC1. A valid Power Engineer Class 2 or Class 3 Technical Standard Safety Authority (TSSA) Certification.
EXPERIENCE:
EX1. Experience assisting in the operation and maintenance of a Heating Plant*
EX2. Experience applying Provincial and Federal legislation associated with power engineering.
EX3. Experience following safety practices relevant to the position.
EX4. Experience using basic Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel and Outlook).
*Definition of Heating Plant - Contains high- and low-pressure boilers, oil and gas burners, pressure vessels, feed water systems, heat exchangers, liquid and gaseous fuel systems, chemical feed systems, compressed air systems, auxiliary equipment and heating systems.

AED2. A valid Power Engineer Class 1 Certification
EXPERIENCE:
AEX1. Experience performing testing, including keeping records for heating equipment.
AEX2. Experience with refrigeration systems
AEX3. Experience with Co-generation power plant*
*Definition of Co-generation Power Plant: Co-generation of turbine, heat and electric power plant

Conditions of employment
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
COE1. Reliability security status
COE2. Must maintain a valid Power Engineer Class 2 or Class 3 Technical Standard Safety Authority (TSSA) certification
COE3. Valid provincial or territorial driver's license.
COE4. Must be able and willing to obtain and maintain the Departmental driver’s license, DND 404.
COE5. Must be able and willing to work shift work and overtime.
COE6. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
COE7. Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions, in confined spaces, from ladders and scaffolds, and perform heavy lifting.
COE8. Willing and able to travel as required.
