There is one Full-Time permanent Senior Financial Analyst position available starting on April 14, 2025, working 37.5 hours per week.

Your Role:

The Senior Financial Analyst provides key financial support to the organization through maintaining the financial integrity of the operating divisions while mentoring and supporting junior team-members. Works intentionally from an anti-racist, anti-oppressive perspective to further create a sense of belonging at the Agency.

Tasks:

  1. Prepare monthly financial reporting package for their respective area of responsibility including, but not limited to, preparation of operating statements, posting of required adjusting journal entries and analyzing variances month to month and actual to plan.
  2. Acts as liaison with the Program Directors and the managers and supervisors within their area on all finance related matters pertaining to this area while maintaining a satisfactory customer satisfaction performance level.
  3. Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly reports to Program funders as required supported by appropriate documentation and audit trail.
  4. Prepare account reconciliations on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis supported by appropriate documentation and audit trial.
  5. Responsible for reporting on and monitoring of all financial aspects of construction projects for the agency and subsequent financial management of ongoing facility activities.
  6. Prepare, process and post journal entries to the General Ledger including journal entries to adjust reconciling items and recurring monthly journal entries.
  7. Ensure subsidiary ledgers are posted to the General Ledger on a daily basis.
  8. Assists in the development of the detailed Annual Service Plan and periodic forecasts and challenges results and projections to identify lack of consistency with current economic trends and/or agency strategies.
  9. Prepare timely, accurate and useful operating/management and financial data for the Program Director for designated time frames (i.e. weekly, monthly) as well as ad hoc reports as requested by management from time to time.
  10. Prepare year-end working papers for external auditors.

Training and Mentoring:

  1. In conjunction with the Controller, provides initial and ongoing training to the junior team members.
  2. Acts as the subject matter expert and imparts knowledge to the junior members of the department. Shares experience and provides valuable insight.
  3. Provides instruction, guidance and support to the team on systems and/or processes as needed.
  4. Provides guidance on skill development and decision-making; assists with problem solving.
  5. Offers constructive feedback to help mentees improve and grow.
  6. Promotes mindset of continuous learning and growth
  7. Provide supportive environment by actively listening to concerns and challenges

Your Talents and Experience:

Graduation in a recognized accounting program at the post-secondary education level with 2–4-year progressive accounting or financial analysis experience. Proficiency in computerized accounting software and Microsoft Office products. Proficiency in Great Plains would be an asset. Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated attention to detail. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to deal with a diverse range of people. Passionate, aware, and willing to learn about antiracism, anti-oppression and equity. Proven ability to achieve high levels of customer service.

Rate of Pay: At Starling Community Services all salaries are categorized under a series of "bands" determined during our job evaluation process. When determining rate of pay for external hires, a candidate’s past related experience will be taken into consideration along with where others with similar experience currently fall within the band.

Note: most new team members will start between the starting salary and the mid-point of the range.

Job Band I (hourly wages): Min - $31.40, Mid - $34.45, Max - $39.72
